- In 1960 Lionel Bart opened the door to a new world of Oliver Twist — a musical one. He wrote the script, music and lyrics to the production which opened at New Theatre on 30 June 1960 and ran for 2,668 performances. His songs such as ‘Food, Glorious Food’, ‘I’d Do Anything’ and ‘Consider Yourself’ are now known worldwide and won him the Tony Award for Best Original Score in 1963.
