Label
The Chimes was Dickens's second 'Christmas Book', after A Christmas Carol. It was published in 1844. Two years later this story, an 'echo' or sequel to The Chimes, was published anonymously. The book acknowledges Dickens as the inspiration behind the story and contains several hand-drawn illustrations by the author. There is no clue as to the identity of the author, but we know the publisher was Thomas Allman.
