- Brief description
- Battle of London Life, or Boz and Secretary by Morna, 1849
- Label
- The Battle of Life was the fourth of five 'Christmas stories' by Dickens, published 1846. Three years later this satire, which parodies the name, was published by 'Morna', the pseudonym of Thomas O'Keefe. It features Dickens as a main character, under his nickname "Boz", as he is accompanied by his fictional secretary Mr Philipson around scenes from London life. The punchline of the story is "the Haunted Man", the title of another Dickens story from 1848.
