Brief description
Charles Dickens's acting copy of 'A Wonderful Woman' playscript
Label
A prompt-book is a copy of the script with all the cues for all actors and technical staff, used by the stage manager to manage the overall performance. This copy belonged to Dickens but some notes are by an actor named Thomas Coe. A Wonderful Woman, by Charles Dance, was a comedy first performed in 1849. Dance often attended the Garrick Club in London, where Dickens would have likely met him.
