- Brief description
- Dombey and Daughter by Renton Nicholson
- Label
- Dickens's early stories were written serially - being produced and published in small chunks or chapters each month. This format, combined with his episodic style, allowed many plagiarists to copy and reprint knock-offs of his work as fast as Dickens could write them. Writer and journalist Renton Nicholson wrote this story with a plot largely unrelated to Dombey and Son, being about the parentage of a young girl called Clara, but doubtlessly relied on the similarity of the title and characters to draw in fans of Dickens's work.
