Scenario and Time Table for 'The Trial of John Jasper for the Murder of Edwin Drood' at the King's Hall, Covent Garden, 7 January 1914
Label
Dickens's death in 1870 left his last novel, Edwin Drood unfinished. Many have since speculated the disappeared Drood was murdered by his uncle, John Jasper. On 7 January 1914 the Dickens Fellowship staged a 'trial' of Jasper at King's Hall in Covent Garden. The cast comprised the leading literary figures of the day, including G. K. Chesterton, then the most popular novelist in the UK, and Authur Waugh, author and owner of Chapman & Hall, Dickens's former publishers.
