It has been translated into German as Heimchen am Heerd, which means the same, although modern German spells the word Herde. The original English opera had music by Sottish composer Alexander Mackenzie and lyrics ("libretto") by American poet Julian Sturgis. It is unclear who translated the lyrics, but it was published by Bosworth & Co, a German music publishing company in Leipzig.
