Label: This is a letter from Charles Dickens to Thomas Beard, one of Dickens's oldest friends. Dickens writes to invite his friend to dinner, and, to listen to the 'Falstaffic F' referring to their friend John Forster, read from Dickens's latest piece of writing. Dickens's wife Catherine has requested that Beard's sister, also named Catherine, join them for dinner too. Dickens adds that he has booked lodgings in Broadstairs for August and September and he asks Beard to join them for a week or so.

My Dear Beard.
I have been thinking about a breast of Venison next Sunday at half past 5--and about making the Falstaffic F, read, in the evening, our passage out, which I have just finished writing--What do you say?
Kate begs her love to your sister Catherine, and desires me to say, that she counts upon seeing her, along with you. Mind you give that Message.
I have, at present, some Port Wine, called "Croft's London Particular". It is worthy of notice.
The Broadstairs arrangements being now concluded, I beg to give you notice that I have taken last Year's house at Broadstairs, for the months of August and September. Make your arrangements accordingly; but don't chip such a small piece as a week out of the Baronet. Cut a slice from him.
