Letter, Charles Dickens to Bradbury & Evans, 30 January, 1846

In 1846 Dickens launched a new daily newspaper, The Daily News, which would go on to be successful and run until the 1930s. Dickens however only edited the first 17 issues before resigning due to the workload and difficulty. In this letter to his publishers, Bradbury & Evans, he mentions a sub-editor named Mr Powell whom Dickens had recommended, but now finds Bradbury & Evans want him gone. Dickens tells them he is "thoroughly disgusted" and intends to leave the paper.
