Label: This is a letter from Charles Dickens to Thomas Beard, one of his oldest friends. Dickens writes to correct the day of his wedding anniversary to a week on Sunday, not Saturday. Dickens asks that he meet the party in The Green Man on Finchley Common where he will be received ‘with open arms’. In the last line of his letter, Dickens makes Beard aware of his new dog Timber’s training progress. Unusually, Dickens signs off this letter with just his initials.

My Dear Beard
I find that the wedding feast at Richmond, does come off on Sunday. Tomorrow week, therefore, I shall expect you here, as early as you can come. The green man will receive you with open arms. So will the flesh-colored one.
