- Beard was Dickens's friend and colleague at "The Morning Chronicle" and was close to the whole Dickens family. Elizabeth (Dickens's mother) wrote from the family home on Bentinck Street. It would be the last home Dickens shared with his parents and siblings; after his father was arrested for debts again in November 1834, Dickens moved into rooms at Furnival's Inn which he shared with a younger brother, Frederick.
