- Brief description
- Annotated proof of Household Words, 11 February 1854
- Label
- Charles Dickens published his weekly magazine, 'Household Words', from 1850 to 1859. The name came from a line in Shakespeare: "Familiar in his mouth as household words". Dickens edited (or "conducted", as he like to say) the articles for each issue. This is a 'proof' - a finalised version of the week's publication for review before printing. We can see someone - possibly Dickens - has written a few notes.
