- Since 1850, Dickens had run and edited a weekly magazine called Household Words (the title was a quote from Shakespeare). However in 1858 he separated from his wife Catherine in a very public manner and severed friendships and working relationships with many people over how they responded. He ended his association with his publishers, Bradbury & Evans, which also meant he ended Household Words. He returned to publishers he had worked with before, Chapman & Hall, and launched a new, effectively identical magazine called All the Year Round (also a Shakespeare quote). This poster was to announce that change.
