- Brief description
- Porcelain Candle-Snuffer of Scrooge
- Label
- This decorative candle-snuffer of Scrooge from A Christmas Carol was made in Taiwan for Franklin Porcelain of London and sold by the Dickens House Museum (the former name of the Charles Dickens Museum). It is part of a collection of nine Dickens-themed snuffers including Scrooge, Mr. Micawber, and Fagin. Candle-snuffers would have been placed over the flame of a candle like a lid to 'snuff' or extinguish the flame. They show the extent of Dickens's legacy and the popularity of his characters.
