- Maroon leather calling card case, with authentication card from Georgina Hogarth

- After Dickens died in 1870, his sister-in-law and housekeeper, Georgina Hogarth, spent a lot of time authenticating, distributing, or selling items that belonged to Dickens. This card case (used to store 'calling cards', which were cards with people's name and address that they could leave behind as part of a social call) has been authenticated by Georgina as belonging to Dickens. A later owner has set the authentication and case inside a presentation box. There are spaces for other objects, also in the Museum's collection, including a fruit knife and a nutmeg box.
