Brief description: Folding fruit knife belonging to Charles Dickens
Label: This folding pocket fruit-knife belonged to Charles Dickens. It has a mother-of-pearl handle and a silver blade. Silver was used for cutting fruit as the citric acid would ruin steel and give the fruit a bad taste. The silver is stamped with the head of the monarch, but this is likely not Victoria and is possibly William IV, who died in 1837, leading Victoria to become Queen.
