Label: Georgina Hogarth was Dickens's sister-in-law, confidant, and housekeeper. She lived with Dickens and his wife, her sister Catherine, from 1842. She stayed with Charles when he separated from Catherine in 1858 and continued to live with him right up until his death in 1870. She was one of two executors of his will and responsible for the sale and distribution of many of his items. In her later years she had money troubles and sold most of her remaining items that belonged to Dickens. Many of the items in the Dickens Museum collection came with small cards written by Georgina certifying their authenticity. She died in 1917 at the age of 90.
