Dickens's Unfinished Mystery - Edwin Drood
Dickens's death in 1870 left his last novel, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, unfinished. The 'mystery' of Mr Drood's disappearance has led many people over the last 150 years trying to guess what happened to him, including some of Dickens's own children. The most likely theory is that he was murdered by another character, John Jasper, and in 1914 he was even put on 'trial' by a court of scholars and famous writers. The collective writings spent on solving Dickens's unfinished story is called 'Droodiana'.
